The Veterans Employee Resource Group (VERG) at Newport News Shipbuilding recently hosted a diverse group of individuals at The Mariners’ Museum and Park to create heartfelt Christmas cards for residents of the Hampton VA Medical Center.

The initiative, aimed at spreading warmth and joy, drew a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters and was a resounding success.

Shipbuilders Janice Boone and Rick Burgos, who organized the event, provided necessary supplies, including card stock, markers, crayons and stickers, ensuring that attendees had everything they needed to craft meaningful messages and beautiful designs.

Participants let their creativity flow, sharing in the joy of creating something special for veterans, who have served their country. This initiative highlighted the power of community and the importance of giving back, and underscored VERG’s commitment to supporting veterans and fostering a sense of connection and appreciation.

“This event is a shining example of how simple acts of kindness can have a profound impact, reminding us all of the true spirit of the holidays,” Boone said.
