Newport News Shipbuilding employees teamed with students from Christopher Newport University on Nov. 9 to pick up trash and brighten the grounds around the shipyard.

NNS regularly works with Serve the City to clean up and make neighborhoods around the shipyard a better place for residents. This time, about 25 shipbuilders and the students focused on parking lots, spending two hours collecting trash.

Besides cleaning up the environment, the volunteers got to know each other as fellow shipbuilders and talked to the students, as well as a few neighbors.
