Relay For Life Set for May 17
Published April 2, 2025
Join Newport News Shipbuilding and the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer. This year’s theme – Game Over – hearkens back to the 1980s when video games were new.
On Saturday, May 17, shipbuilders will come together for the annual Relay For Life fundraiser at William Styron Square in the Port Warwick area of Newport News. It will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. NNS has set a hefty goal of $40,000, but we know that shipbuilders care about this cause and want to make a difference. Here’s how you can get involved:
- Go to relayforlife.org/NNS to donate, register, and create or join a Relay For Life team.
- Purchase a Relay For Life T-shirt for $15 each. Use the Order Form or contact a Relay For Life team leader. See all the NNS teams here.
- Order luminarias and add your own message. The cost is $10 for one bag or three for $25. These will line the track, filled with light, in remembrance of those that have been affected by cancer. Contact Melyssa Briggs to purchase.
- Attend the Relay For Life event on May 17 and bring family and friends. Sponsors will host booths with games and giveaways. There will be entertainment, a kids’ area and food trucks. Admission is free.
Over 3 million people worldwide participate in Relay For Life events each year, raising money to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat and survive cancer. Help join the fight today. For details, go to the Relay for Life MyNNS site or email [email protected].
