NNS to Distribute New Identification Badges

Security and Emergency Management will begin issuing new identification badges to Newport News Shipbuilding employees, contractors and visitors this fall. HII is updating badges across all divisions to align with recent branding and logo changes.

Department security representatives will coordinate distribution of new employee badges and collection of existing badges. Updated employee photos are not required. While no action is required for most employees to prepare for rebadging, shipbuilders should take note if any of the following apply to them.

  • Submit recent name changes to Human Resources for processing as soon as possible so the new badge reflects your correct name.
  • If you have a security clearance, confirm with your supervisor that you have the right level and that it is still required to perform your job duties. If a change is needed, submit a security clearance request form (NN 5021).
  • If you have had significant appearance changes since your last photo, you can stop by the Access Center to have a new photo taken. The Access Center (Bldg. 625) is located at 210 39th St. and is open from 6 a.m.-12 p.m. and 12:30-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Employee badges will be distributed by division, beginning Nov. 8, with a target completion date in the first quarter of 2025. Visitors will continue to use their current badge until their visit expires or the badge needs to be replaced due to damage or loss.
