After 40 years of reliable service, the Newport News Shipbuilding mainframe system will be officially retired early in the third quarter of this year.

This transition not only marks a technological upgrade but also represents significant cost savings for the company. Users of the current mainframe system should anticipate a few key changes. Several mainframe applications will be transformed onto various platforms. As the go-live date approaches, more communications will be shared related to training, the blackout period and support channels.

The project team has been diligently working to make this happen and are very close to making it a reality. Help is needed from the user community to support testing and identify potential issues.
