Newport News Shipbuilding currently uses a platform called YourCause for donations to nonprofits and volunteer opportunities. Starting in late September, the company will switch to a new platform.

This change will not impact current donations employees make via payroll deduction. Donations will continue to be withheld from paychecks and disbursed to nonprofits that employees have selected. There will soon be a change to the process for managing payroll deduction contributions, but no action will be required from employees.

Key points to remember:

• There will be a short freeze, during which increases and changes in designations will not be accepted.
• Cancellations will be permitted through a manual process. Details will be announced soon.
• The last day to increase or modify giving in YourCause is Tuesday, Sept. 10.

NNS is working with United Way on a new, user-friendly platform to be in place for the next United Way campaign. When the new platform is complete, employees will be notified and provided with instructions for modifying payroll deductions.

A new user-friendly volunteer platform will also be included with this transition. Training and information will be available soon.
