Winners of the NNS Bartender Challenge and Cornhole Tournament helped raise money for United Way of the Virginia Peninsula.

NNS Cornhole Competition Raises Money for United Way

Newport News shipbuilders came out to support the NNS Bartender Challenge and Cornhole Tournament, benefiting United Way of the Virginia Peninsula.

Sixty players competed in cornhole, and the event ended in a close finish for top honors. Adding to the fun, NNS bartenders Michelle Pope, Angie Bryant and Brandy Majors raised more than $806 in tips.

In all, the event raised more than $1,800 for United Way.

David Crews ran the cornhole tournament and awarded plaques to these winners:

  • First: Aroe Parker and Bobby Evans
  • Second: Brian Johnston and Peter Green
  • Third: Mark Auerbach and David Crews
