As May 11 – the date the national COVID-19 emergency declaration will be terminated – draws near, Newport News Shipbuilding’s COVID Council has reviewed community transmission trends and transmission levels within NNS to make decisions regarding the path forward. Transmission continues to be low for the surrounding localities and the employee population. As such, NNS’ COVID-19 policy and contact tracing process has been amended as follows:

• The contact-tracing process is streamlined with a reduced number of steps and notifications. Employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been onsite at NNS within 48 hours of testing positive can still call the COVID-19 Hotline, 1-844-243-8749, option 3.
• The NNS COVID-19 411 website is updated with the latest policy.
• Masks will continue to be available in Fastenal machines. However, cleaning products and hand sanitizer will no longer be offered at Bldg. 3. Those products are transitioning back to departmental purchasing processes (i.e., Perfect Commerce).
