John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) sailors and shipbuilders recently celebrated a symbolic milestone for the U.S. Navy’s second Ford-class aircraft carrier.

The team recognized the acceptance of 79% of spaces onboard the ship. This means the spaces have been turned over to the ship’s crew from Newport News Shipbuilding. They celebrated the milestone in CVN 79’s Steering Gear Power Room, which holds the primary steering equipment for the ship’s rudders.

Kennedy is nearing completion as NNS shipbuilders and sailors work to prepare the ship for delivery next year.
