Final preparations for NNS Family Day are underway, and employees should be mindful of upcoming parking, street and gate closures, plus other logistics for the Saturday event.

Family Day will be held from 9 a.m., to 3 p.m. All guests will enter the shipyard through the 37th Street vehicle entrance. The shipyard whistle will signal the opening.

Parking restrictions include the 41st Street and 42nd Street lots.

Vehicles parked in the 41st Street and 42nd Street lots, located directly in front of Bldgs. 520 and 521, must be moved by 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26. The lots will reopen Sunday, Oct. 29, at 10 p.m.

Vehicles parked in the 42nd Street lot, between Huntington Avenue and Warwick Boulevard, must be moved by 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27. The lot will reopen at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Additional handicap parking will be available in the 39th Street lot, between Washington and Huntington avenues. Employees are reminded to not park in the NRRO/SUPSHIP reserved spots in the 39th Street lot.

Washington Avenue between 36th and 45th streets will be closed to traffic beginning at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. The turnstiles at 37th and 41st streets will close at 8 a.m. The streets and turnstiles will reopen immediately after the event.
